Working remotely with a developer: how a project runs without on-site meetings
Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Nuremberg, Munich or Berlin: how a website or software project runs fully remotely, from the intro call to the launch.
My office is in Karlsruhe, but many projects don't need a single meeting in person. The shop for the Dutch bag label MARG was built entirely remotely. Whether your business is in Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Nuremberg, Munich or Berlin, this is how working at a distance goes.
The process, step by step
- 01
Intro call by video
30 minutes, free. You show what you have, I ask questions. Screen sharing replaces the meeting table.
- 02
Written quote
Fixed price and clear scope as a PDF. Everything important is in writing, not just in conversation.
- 03
Weekly check-ins
You get a link and see the current state in the browser, on phone or computer.
- 04
Feedback on the draft
Short notes, screenshots or a 15-minute call. Decisions are recorded.
- 05
Launch and handover
Domain, access, a short video walkthrough you can rewatch later.
What remote even does better
- No travel, no scheduling: check-ins fit into 15 minutes between two customers
- Everything is documented: quote, decisions, access
- You see real progress in the browser instead of slides
- You can choose a developer from a wider area than your own city
What to look out for
- One point of contact who actually replies
- Clear channels: where are questions asked, where are decisions recorded?
- Regular check-ins instead of one big surprise at the end
- Access and domain registered in your name
